Professor “Kanda” Pillay, the 11th Master of the Academy of Medicine, Singapore (1978-1980), originally hailed from Seremban, Malaysia,1 and was admitted to the King Edward VII College of Medicine in Singapore in 1948.2 He graduated from the renamed Faculty of Medicine, University of Malaya in 1954.
