The association between cardiac arrhythmias and obstructive sleep apnoea (OSA) is well established. Both conditions lead to significant morbidity and mortality if left untreated. Recurrent episodes of apnoea, hypoxaemia and hypercapnia in patients with OSA lead to chemoreceptor excitation, increased sympathetic drive and cardiac arrhythmias.
